ERASMUS+ is a mobility program whose purpose is to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences between students, teachers and non-teaching staff, researchers from higher education institutions, allowing them to study, carry out internships, higher education research activities for a period of time.
Through this partnership, Emília Monteiro Tavares took part in a mobility meeting at the University of Seville on June 5. The theme of the meeting was "Women in STEM fields in Cape Verde and Spain" and its aim was to explore the factors that influence women's career choices in STEM in Cape Verde and their impact on equality, equity and access to opportunities, as well as investing in the presence of women in STEM, which would be fundamental in reducing poverty, empowering them, and ultimately guaranteeing equal access to ICT for both genders.
According to the professor, STEM fields have a high employability rate, but because of the disparity present in underdeveloped countries like Cape Verde, the area lacks women.
